At morning he woke.

He had been awake a few minutes before already, since his bedside wake-up lamp that modelled the light of the sun had already accustomed his brain to sunrise. His alarm bell had chimed quietly in the “wake up” melody that experts had proven to be beneficial to stimulating the brain.

The top half of the bed slowly rose up with a smooth grind, and Jonathan Brooks found himself sitting up. With a mechanical whirr, his blanket removed itself from his body and folded neatly. The curtains opened and the room was alive with light and whirring noise. He closed his eyes and sent a reverent request to his mechanical housekeeper.

Brooks turned and put on his slippers. Standing up, already refreshed, he strolled into the toilet, washed his face, brushed his teeth with his automatic toothpaste dispenser.

He exited the toilet as the lights turned off and the door closed after him. He flicked his wrists and waltzed into the suit that was hanging on the self-dress rack that enabled him to put on his clothes just by walking into the metal framework of the rack. Brooks grabbed his purse and breakfast that had already prepared by the system.

Work was nothing to think about; that day it was all numbers and figures that his computer and headphone glasses helped him with. He offered a quick appeal to his mechanical housekeeper as he finished the last Excel page that was filled with 6,084 numbers.

Having finished work a bit earlier than lunch break, Brooks chatted awhile with the worker sitting next to him. Her name was Clara, and they got on just fine. They had a nice round of chess and then headed out for lunch with the rest of the company.

He was so very grateful with the fabulous lunch, mashed potatoes, pure Italian spaghetti, and peperoni pizza. He donated a quick entreaty to the mechanical cook who prepared such wonderful food.

Truly, everything after that was a bit of a blur. He only remembered that he went to the restroom two times that afternoon at the times his headphone glasses reminded him to, and he felt grateful for that too.

That night, he sat on the sofa and watched a football match with his wife and daughter. They cheered for their home team, which was the best equipped team in the world, with professional football shoes that allowed jet-propulsion and auto-tracer gloves. They managed to win.

And that night before sleep, Jonathan Brooks gave a sincere prayer to his mechanical housekeeper.
